The idea underlying our tours and itineraries is to offer a small group the opportunity to sample the authenticity of his facinating regions of Italy that are largely unsullied by mass tourism, a decided advantage for travellers wanting to get off the beaten track and to experience the thrill of travelling the way it once was - and can still be!

An architect in private practice in Auckland, New Zealand, John explored Rome and the Lazio region over several years while practicing as an architect in Rome working on architectural and hard landscaping projects throughout the region. Also a graduate in botany and geography he has an ongoing interest in plants, the environment and landscape architecture.

Andrea Bassan

An Italian architect in private practice in Rome, Andrea is an inveterate traveler both in Italy and abroad. Fluent in English, he combines a broad knowledge of Italian architecture and archaeology with a nose for places of special interest and character. He is currently engaged in a survey of, decorated catacombs in Rome for a doctoral dissertation.

Stefano Cannata

Stefano Cannata

An Italian biologist teaching at the University Tor Vergata in Rome, Stefano is also an able gastronome. He has overseen the selection of the best local restaurants and trattoria, and will prepare the occasional picnic lunch and a traditional Lazio meal during the tour.
